The 117th United States Congress is the current meeting of the legislative branch of the The states federal regime, equanimous of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The 117th Congress convened on January 3, 2021, and will conclude on January iii, 2023.
The Business firm was scheduled to meet for 160 days in 2021 and 112 days in 2022.[ane] [2] [three] [iii] [iv]
The Senate was scheduled to meet for 158 days in 2021 and 171 days in 2022.[2] [three] [5]
From 2001 to 2021, the Senate spent an average of 164 days in session each twelvemonth, and the House spent an average of 149 days in session.[6]Betwixt 2001 and 2021, the highest number of days the House spent in session was 193 (in 2017 and 2019), and the lowest was 104 in 2006. Between 2001 and 2021, the highest number of days the Senate spent in session was 195 in 2017 and the lowest was 133 in 2004.
Calendar days in session
The following charts evidence the number of days that the U.Southward. Congress was in session from 2001 to 2021.[7] [viii]
The charts bear witness the numbers in terms of calendar days rather than legislative days. A legislative day "begins afterwards an adjournment and ends with an banishment" so tin can last longer than 24 hours.[ix]
The calendars for the beginning and second sessions of the 117th Congress appear below.[x] [11]
